How Can Relaxation Massage Help You?

Once we understand what you hope to achieve, know that there are many possibilities.  We can use a variety of techniques and types of massage to get you exactly where hope to go. In fact, relaxation massage can go in many different directions.  After discussing the possibilities with you we will decide how to proceed together.  Don’t exactly know what you want?  No problem!  Frank Dotts has decades of experience and will be happy to guide you through the many possibilities for achieving total relaxation, and optimal health and well-being through massage.

Frank literally has DECADES of experience in performing the following types of massage as pure application or in hybrid approaches:

Swedish Massage

A gentle type of full-body massage that is often ideal for people who are new to massage, are quite tense, and/or may be quite sensitive to touch. Swedish massage can help to release knots in the musculature and promote full body relaxation. Characteristic of swedish massage are kneading of the muscles, flowing strokes in the direction of your heart, deep circular motions, vibration and tapping, and some passive joint movement techniques.

Deep Tissue Massage

Your therapist applies more pressure than typically experienced during Swedish massage. Great for chronic muscle problems and soreness, injury, or imbalance. Helps to relieve anxiety, tight muscles, and chronic pain. Employs slow strokes and deep finger pressure to relieve deep tension in muscles and connective tissues.

Trigger-point Massage

Trigger point massages are ideally suited for those who have injuries, chronic pain, or a specific issue or condition that may not require a full-blown medical massage. Tightness within the muscle tissues, also known as trigger points, can cause pain to refer elsewhere in the body. Relieving trigger points can reduce the referral pain, as well as tightness and discomfort at the site. Broad, flowing strokes are often combined with stronger, deeper pressure.

Shiatsu / Thai massage

Shiatsu and Thai massage techniques are appropriate for relaxation, stress relief, pain mitigation, and tension relief. Promotes emotional and physical calm and helps to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Good for those who experience frequent headaches. During the massage we will use hands, palms, and thumbs as well as rhythmic pressure.

Esalen Therapeutic Massage

Esalen massage is a gentle, soothing massage technique that promotes deep relaxation in the client. It relies on long, graceful strokes to increase the client’s awareness of their own body. This awareness, as much as any specific technique used by your therapist, increases the healing potential. Becoming conscious of the many ways your body retains tension helps your mind to naturally release it.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a good option if you have a repetitive use soreness or pain in a specific muscle or group of muscles, such as what you may experience from playing sports. It can be used to help prevent sports injuries, as well as increase flexibility and enhance performance. A sports massage can be performed as a full-body massage or may focus on the parts of the body that need more attention.

Reflexology Massage

Great for those who want to relax or improve energy levels. Also a good option if you aren’t comfortable being touched on your entire body. Utilizes gentle to firm pressure around the ears, hands, and feet.

Cupping Massage / Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient therapeutic modality dating back to ancient Egypt and China, as well as some Middle Eastern cultures.  It is a type of alternative medicine where special cups are positioned on your skin in areas of tension and pain to produce suction. There are plenty of good reasons to explore cupping as a therapy, including the reduction of inflammation and pain, increased blood flow, general relaxation and well-being. Cupping is a unique and beneficial way to administer deep-tissue massage, and plenty of physicians today now prescribe cupping therapy to patients as part a larger, more comprehensive treatment plans.
